🚨

Wilton CERT is activated by the Town's Emergency Management Director and works in direct coordination with Wilton Police and Fire Departments.

Types of Deployments

How We Respond

🔥

Structure Fires

CERT establishes perimeter detours, manages pedestrian and vehicle traffic, and supports scene management so firefighters can focus on suppression.

🚗

Motor Vehicle Accidents

Setting up safe detour routes, directing traffic around accident scenes, and providing first aid presence until EMS takes over.

🌳

Storm & Road Closures

Responding to downed trees and wires, blocking unsafe roads, and helping Wilton residents navigate safely during and after severe storms.

🔍

Search & Rescue

Assisting Wilton PD and FD with organized searches for missing individuals across large areas of terrain.

🏠

Emergency Shelter

Setting up and staffing the Town's emergency shelter for residents displaced by disasters or hazardous conditions.

📡

EOC Support

Members serve in Wilton's Emergency Operations Center during extended incidents, assisting with planning and resident communications.

Beyond Wilton

Wilton CERT may also be called upon by Region 1 Emergency Management to provide Mutual Aid to neighboring towns during major incidents. Our Everbridge call-out system allows us to rapidly mobilize volunteers for same-day or next-morning responses.

Recent examples include our deployment to Waterbury, CT for bottled water distribution during a major water main break that left 60% of the city without water.

How It Works

1

Call Received

EMD or Wilton PD/FD contacts CERT leadership with an activation request.

2

Everbridge Alert

All available CERT members receive an instant notification via the Everbridge system.

3

Team Assembles

Volunteers confirm availability and report to the staging location.

4

Deployment

CERT deploys under a Deployment Commander, coordinates with incident command.
